Interspersed below are the actual Markdown commands followed by how they are displayed. Markdown is very intuitive, much easier to write than using html. The conversion is provided by the markdown package Markdown which can be downloaded using pip

On this site, I use the django admin facility to write and edit my posts. Upon saving they are converted to html. This could be done when they are displayed which would slow down the display somewhat. The trade off is that the database entries get a bit larger.

This is a paragraph, which is text surrounded by whitespace. Paragraphs can be on one line (or many), and can drone on for hours.
